The priory of Saint Julien

This time I'll write in english, as apparently there are several english speakers now visiting our blog. The recorder workshop went very well, with 6 players actually attending. Unfortunately Isolde had a little accident just before the workshop started and could not be with us. Alain directed and I went from soprano to alto to tenor to bass, helping out where needed. It is a formula which seems to work well and for the moment the numbers are small enough for individual work, without anyone getting bored.
Purcell's fantasia no. 10 was studied in depth and recorded onto minidisc. We studied a little of his life and composing style, and listened to and compared 3 different recordings of the work.

The atmosphere was festive in the evening with 4 sharing a gîte 3 minutes walk from the priory. I wish I could remember some of the jokes told!! Elyane reurned home but has expressed a wish to stay next time to be able to join in the fun!

Anonyme a dit…

Oh ! Thanks for writing in English ! Doing no good for my french, though...
Nice blog. Went to Clermont once, around christmas last year. Isn't there a lake nearby, the Lake de Saligon, or something ?

See you,
